Creating a visual identity to unite athletes and alumni under one mission
In September 2020, the University of Minnesota athletic department made the decision to cut three non-revenue sports: men’s track and field, men’s tennis, and men’s gymnastics. Overnight, a campaign was started to reinstate the teams.
As the creative lead on the project, I created the visual identity for Save Gopher Sports that lived on posters and was shared widely across social. The identity leans on a variable typeface, emphasizing wording within layouts and making them feel spoken on the page, while vintage photos of the team to speak to the rich history of the men's track and field program.
